Now March is here and our March flowers are in full bloom at the Cole Family Farm. Therefore, my hsuband suggested a science lesson for us for preschool. We picked march flowers, put them in water, and the boys dyed the water. We have been talking about how plants "drink" their water. The boys thought it was too cool that their March flowers are now yellow with blue and green tips all over them.
After our lesson on it this morning, it was time to feed Linley then we are off to the park. As I'm picking up her bottle I notice the nice tower that Caleb had created out of his breakfast dishes. The bowl of cereal is now filled with blue water (hmm, where did that come from), a cup in it, a plate balancing on top of that with a fork as the flag. How creative. I notice Caleb's March flower is now in the floor and his cup is no where to be found. After that mess is cleaned up somewhat, it's shoe time. Always the easiest chore with two boys as you can imagine. Then, that's when I see it. Caleb had been practicing his sharing...with the flower. He had drank out of the flowers' water. Now, his nose, mouth, cheek, and chin are painted a light shade of blue. Do you know what takes that off of skin? Nothing. I wonder how long that's going to take to come off? Oh well, at least today when we celebrated a friend's birthday at the park he had blue icing. He matched.
Good science lesson!!!!
